gMovies Review & 6 Month Subscription #GIVEAWAY!

Where have I been? Seems like I have just hit a pitfall of health problems lately.. Not sure what has really caused my asthma flare up (haven't had any problems in YEARS, like high school years..) but after a trip to the hospital, 6 days of breathing treatments and 3 medications later.. I'm still having issues.. Lucky for me, I was given access to gMovies to review to help keep me occupied and not focused so much on my gasping :) They are also offering my awesome readers a FREE Two-Week Trial Period, plus the chance to WIN their very own 6 MONTH Subscription.. so keep reading!

We don't have cable in our house. We tried back in November to get cable, but we never watched it.. even the kids preferred to still watch Netflix. I'm happy we are cable free (trust me, if you would have asked me in my early 20's - I would have never given you that answer).. Not only from a money saving viewpoint, but from a family, wholesome view. It's sad that we have to monitor our children's TV shows so closely, because I can remember falling asleep to Nick at Night when I was a kid. Now, anything but Netflix is pretty much off limits after 10pm, including Nickelodeon (a KIDS Network!)

I LOVE gMovies because it is a movie streaming company, similar to Netflix, but more of a Christian channel. With gMovies you'll have instant access to over 300 Christian movie and TV shows with new titles being added monthly! You can find a wide variety of entertainment available on gMovies, including Adventure, Animation, Comedy, Drama, Documentaries, Thrillers and more. You can stream from your iPad, Android or PC. There is NO contract and you cancel at anytime.

*Just a tip - I hooked up a HDMI cable to my laptop and was able to view everything on our big screen TV! :)

gMovies is normally $4.99 a month (a great price by the way!!), but if you'd like to check it out first they are offering all my Frugal Southern Living readers a FREE TWO WEEK TRIAL! All you have to do is click THIS LINK to go to gMovies and use code "FREETRIAL49" at sign-up to secure your free trial!

gMovies is operated by UP, America's favorite television channel for uplifting music and family entertainment, so rest assured that you are being offered the very best in faith conscious entertainment. The Parents Television Council has twice awarded its Entertainment Seal of Approval to UP for being an "authentic family-friendly cable network". UP is the only television network to be so honored.

Overall, I think this is a great subscription, at a very affordable rate, that guarantees your family wholesome, faith based entertainment. I loved reading the books, "Left Behind", so I was happy to see those movies on gMovies!

Grace of God DVD & GIVEAWAY!

My love and I are big movies fans - he probably has about 300 DVD's! We've been building our DVD collection and even more so, our Christian based DVD's. I am happy that we are building a collection of movies that are family-friendly and portray a good Christian message.

About the Movie

Having lost his faith many years ago, Detective Bill Broadly is called to investigate the disappearance of the local church's collection plate. As he questions its various church members, rumors swirl as more congregants learn about the theft. When one unexpected church-goer confesses to stealing the funds, the confession resurrects Broadly's views on God and helps him see that through faith and belief there really is rebirth and redemption.

You can purchase your copy at Walmart!

My Thoughts

I was happy to see some big name actors in this film. I love when actors aren't afraid to portray their Christian faith within their acting career! For those of you who grew up watching the show Cheers, you'll remember Jon Ratzenberger. I kind of remember Cheers, but I grew up watching Lorenzo Lamos in Renegade :) and I loved the movie Fireproof - if you've seen that Christian movie, you'll remember Erin Bethea who played Kirk Cameron's wife.

Over $30,000 is stolen from the church's safe and atheist Detective Bill Broadly is called in to find out who took it. Detective Broadly believes that all churches will one day be revealed as nothing more than hypocrites. Throughout his investigation he comes to the realization that Christians are humans who also make mistakes, but have the courage to eventually own up to their mistakes and ask God for forgiveness. One Bible verse that kept popping in my head as I was watching this movie was Romans 3:23-24 : "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and are justified as a grace of his gift through the redemption that is in Jesus Christ." Without giving away too much of the plot away, its a good mystery movie with a nice message intertwined about faith, forgiveness and grace.

The one thing that has left me puzzled is the subtitle of the movie. On the cover you will see "A Story about Easter Traditions." I really don't believe that this had anything to do with Easter. The story itself is based on Ten Commandments.

The Dove Foundation awarded this movie their "Faith-Friendly" seal for ages 12 and older. Check out the movie trailer below:

I'm in LOVE with Madison Reed Hair Color! #MyMadisonReed

I LOVE to find new-to-me beauty companies to share with you, especially DIY companies! I came across the website for Madison Reed and was offered the opportunity to review their hair color. I've, unfortunately, let my roots grow out too long - so I JUMPED at the chance to try and cover it up :) The problem with my hair is its damaged and I find that the boxed color fades too quickly. I'm a busy woman, as all of you are, and I don't want to have to worry about coloring my hair every two weeks.

You may be thinking why risk your hair! Why color at home? If you've been around the blog for a while you'd already know the answer to this one (from my perspective). If not, my blog name should give ya a clue :)  Coloring your hair at home is far less expensive than a salon and up until now, boxed store bought color -- with a coupon of course!-- was my best choice.. keep reading to find out while I'll never go back!

The Adventures of Pajama Girl Book Review & GIVEAWAY!

Growing up I LOVED to read! Being a grownup.. I have let life get in the way of my love of reading, but thanks to some recent book reviews I've been able to get back into reading - and share that love of reading with the kids!

Reading is so important and books like The Adventures of Pajama Girl are a fun way to teach kids some of life's principles, such as doing acts of kindness for others without expecting anything in return. It also gently reminds them why they shouldn't be jealous! Reading brings out the best creativity in kids - I mean who wouldn't want magical pajamas?? Especially ones that bring you to a land of sweet treats! :)  I love seeing their eyes light up as they are imagining themselves in this story!

Texas K-9 Unit eBook Series #BookReview & #Giveaway {Plus Coupon!}

Wedding planning has been absolutely crazy lately.. less than 2 months left!! With all the hustle and bustle of last minute details, it was nice to take a break and get back into my love of reading. Even more so, since my fiancé and I are both in law enforcement to read a nice, romantic police series :)

Although I work in an office, not full time sworn yet.. I always imagined my career in law enforcement would lead to one of two positions - the Crimes Against Children or K-9 Unit. Next month marks 10 YEARS in my law enforcement career!

Fun fact -- did you know today, March 13th, is National K-9 Veteran's Day? So as a tribute to that, let me share the Texas K-9 Unit eBook Series with you!
