With the current "War on Law Enforcement" going on, I LOVE when companies band together to give back to those that risk their lives day and night keeping us safe! And that's exactly what the company I am about to share with you did!
I am SUPER excited to share with you a new (to me) company I found online.. Visor Frames! I contacted this company to see if they would be interested in teaming up with FSL to give some of our local deputies their Visor Frames and without hesitation, they immediately replied Yes! They even offered to give away five (5) Visor Frames to my wonderful readers!

I hope each and every one of you had a Merry CHRISTmas and peaceful transition into the new year! You may have noticed that I haven't been around since very early December. I apologize for not posting all the goodies you have come to expect from Frugal Southern Living, but my Mother in Law passed away very unexpectedly and I took some time away from blogging to be with family. I know you all will understand being that I have the best readers in the blogosphere!
This last month has been really hard on our family and I urge you to make sure you spend time with loved ones! Time with family is so precious and you never know when your last moment with them is going to be. My Mother in Law made the best potato salad on this planet and two days before she passed I was going to ask her to teach me how to make it (I was going to bring it to a work lunch party). The night I was supposed to make it, I decided since I was bringing a second dish already and was tired that I didn't need to bring potato salad this time. I thought I would have more time. I wish I had called her. Don't take any time for granted! If you can't get there to see them in person, at least call them and let them know you are thinking about them!

Our family suffers from allergies - this time of the year is THE WORST! That's why I'm glad I was chosen to try out Scotties tissues! I've always been a Kleenex girl *gasp* I know - I accepted a mission from the competitor! But I'm happy I did and here's why:
*Doesn't make your nose red from being irritated, just because you blow your nose!
*Is super soft!
*Quality is great - holds up well!
*Is Kid-Approved in our home!
*Is a company that cares!
Want to try Scotties for yourself? That's great, cause I have a coupon to share with you! Your Welcome :)

One of our family's favorite ways to spend time together is to grab a movie and snuggle up on the couch. Even better, when we can sneak in a lesson with the movie. And, three thumbs up when it is a Christian movie or movie that teaches us about the Bible! That's why I was excited when I had the opportunity to view The Gospel of John prior to its release on Netflix!
About The Gospel of John:
The Gospel of John takes the story of Jesus from John's gospel with its own unique characteristics. For John, Jesus is the word of God made human. John is clear that when we encounter Jesus, we encounter God. The gospel writer points to the miracles (the 'Signs') and teachings as evidence of Jesus' special relationship as the divine Son of God.
This full length feature film about the life of Jesus takes the actual Gospel text as its script, word for word, unedited. Five years in the making, this epic production has been critically acclaimed by leading religious scholars as a unique and highly authentic telling of the Jesus story. Narrated by leading British actor David Harewood ("Homeland", "Diamond Blood", "Merchant of Venice") it is based on the latest theological, historical and archeological research. With specifically constructed sets and extraordinary authentic villages and countryside of rural Morocco, it immerses the viewer in the world of first century Palestine.

About The Lumo Project:
FOUR GOSPELS. FOUR FILMS. ONE JESUS STORY. FOR EVERYONE.
A groundbreaking, multi-language biblical film resource transforming the way we discover, study and engage with the life of Jesus through the four New Testament Gospels: redefining the standard of visual Biblical media. The Lumo Project presents four films - one for each Gospel account - that will revolutionize the way we all experience the story of Jesus and the world of the First Century Palestine in which he lived.

I chose the NIV of The Gospel of John. The Lumo Project did an excellent job of sharing the actual Gospel of John. Note I used the word actual. This movie is depicted with a true and unedited representation of the Bible. There are no extravagant storylines or special effects, just a true account of John's gospel.
While I loved how true to the Bible this actually was, I found it hard to keep focus - this could strictly be from my learning style and you may love it, but since this is narrated I felt like I could actually just listen to it and still hear the message. There are actors that beautifully illustrate the scenes, but I feel like this story would have truly reached its full potential if they would have spoken lines versus it being a fully narrated movie. I do believe that the reason they chose to do it this way is because they are able to offer it in 3 versions (NIV, KJV and Spanish). I can't confirm that as I haven't had the chance to speak to anyone with The Lumo Project, but that is my opinion.
This movie is also nearly 3 hours long. If you didn't want to watch the full 3 hours, you can use this movie to supplement a Bible study by selecting the section of the movie that fits the part of John's gospel that you are currently studying. You could also very easily follow along with your Bible, as it is word for word to the version selected.
This movie is a great selection for church studies (think Sunday School) or at home group studies. You and/or your family may even love the movie as it is narrated. In my opinion, I do not think this would be a great fit for younger children, as it would not hold their attention long enough to understand.
I do LOVE the fact that this film was released to Netflix (as of December 1st)! This makes it very convenient to watch from your home TV, laptop or even cell phone!
Overall, this was an excellent movie. You cannot get a movie that is more true to the facts of the Bible than The Lumo Project.
Frugal Southern Living Disclaimer: I did not receive any monetary compensation for posting about this movie. I did, however, receive a link for a special viewing prior to its Netflix release from Propeller Consulting, LLC and was entered into a contest, in order to help facilitate my review and share with my readers. Opinions in this review are my own, unbiased thoughts about this movie and yours may vary.
